One late night, a policeman shows up at Eve Morrison’s door to deliver some terrible news. Eve’s husband Copper and her sister Willa were involved in a car accident that lands them both in the hospital. Eve goes to wake her daughter, Gwen, only to discover she’s snuck out – again. All is not well in Eve’s magazine-picture perfect life.
Understandably, Eve is very upset and confused about the accident. She has many questions and Cooper’s answers don’t satisfy her. Unfortunately, Willa has sustained a brain injury that has all but erased her memories of the accident. Just when Eve decides to accept that events happened as Cooper claims, she begins receiving mysterious mail. Then a newspaper reporter starts calling, a dead body is found near the scene of the accident and Willa reveals that she’s having weird dreams.
The accident and its ramifications are not…continue reading at Chick Lit Central.
I can’t believe we’re more than halfway through the trip. It’s gone by so fast, yet it somehow feels like we’ve been on the road forever!
At my last update, we were in Amherst, MA – catching up on laundry, bills, writing and squeezing in some exploration of Berkshires. After Amherst, we traveled to Providence, Rhode Island to check off another state capitol and visit my sister, Kendall. The capitol building was pretty, but unremarkable in that it’s similar to many of the capitols we’ve already toured. However, this one will always stay with me – my son Barrett managed to disturb a gubernatorial candidate’s press conference with his loud singing and clapping. They were not happy with us!

As has become tradition over the last couple of summers, Dad flies in to whatever city where the kids and I happen to be on our road trip. This year I planned it so that he’d join us on Cape Cod, where I grew up. I also know that it’s one of his favorite places. This is an excerpt form my Road Warrior Momma blog, which chronicled our Father’s Day weekend celebration.
Day 17 – Day 19
June 13-15th, 2014
Quincy, MA – Dennis Port, MA
It was raining when we woke up this morning, which of course was a huge disappointment. R. had some work to do in the morning, so our late departures look to be continuing. We crossed the Bourne Bridge, to Cape Cod, at noon. I’m telling you, once I cross that bridge, something happens to me and I completely relax (of course have a wingman may be a big part of it this year). We were supposed to meet Leslie (family friend) for lunch, but our plans changed to dinner because her conference was rescheduled, so we were on our own. We decided to explore the north shore a little, something we’d never done before. It’s very quiet, compared to the south shore, but lovely. We had a nice lunch overlooking a marsh in North Dennis.

Lessons I Learned From My Unconventional Dad
I’m in the middle of our annual family road trio and we’ve been very busy. I’ve been blogging about it daily at Road Warrior Momma and trying to keep up with this blog. This is the first summer I’ve been a “full-time blogger” and it’s tough to stay plugged in and write when you’re on the road with four kids. I’m cheating a bit with this post, because it was published earlier this week on the Huff Post Parents and I’m going to use it here, too. It’s the first blog I’ve ever written about my dad.
