September Happenings

It’s been a while since I wrote a “catch-up” post about what I’m doing, reading and watching.  This post is also a partial link-up with Mama Kat’s World’s Greatest Writing Workshop.    I didn’t have a whole lot to write about on the new fall television line-up, so I decided to combine the two.  If you’re visiting from Mama Kat, please forgive me (but I hope you stick around, so I can learn more about you).

Writing prompt:  Share the fall lineup you’re looking forward to.

Last year, I wrote a post all about the new fall television shows that was featured at Chick Lit Plus.  I did some research for that article and thought I had the winners and losers figured out.  I was wrong, so I’ve saved myself the trouble (and time) this year.  I’m going to wait a few weeks before watching anything new – to see what the critics and my fellow bloggers (who are usually attuned to the most buzz-worthy shows) like.  I’ve also been bruised one too many times by shows that I love getting axed way too soon.  With just a cursory glance at Entertainment Weekly’s site, my only interest at this point is Bad Judge (I love Kate Walsh) and Madame Secretary (love political dramas).  We shall see.  I am, however, very excited for my returning favorites!!!!  In no particular order; Revenge, The Good Wife, The Goldbergs, Nashville, Blue Bloods and ParenthoodContinue reading September Happenings

Things To Be Excited About – March 2014

It’s that time again – to share with you all the things I’m excited about!  Although my “Excited” posts are some of my favorite to write, I confess that my primary motivation for this particular blog is to get something up, because I’ve been super busy and haven’t had time for a Latchkey Mom blog.  My apologies!  I’m also including a giveaway with this post, to entice you to share with me what you’re excited about.  I have a couple books, a Latchkey Mom necklace and an American Express gift card to give to one lucky person who comments below.  I’ll announce the winner on Tuesday, after 5p.m.

My First Blog Tour – Starting on Monday, I’ll be participating in my first blog tour/crossover with some other bloggers about Clean Eating Week.  I’ve committed to eating clean for a week and blogging about it.  My post will be on Monday, followed by Allison from Go Dansker Mom, Amy from Hot Breakfast, and Holly from Desert Momma.  We’re going to share our individual clean eating plans, recipes, experiences and results.   Wish me luck, and be sure to check in with all of us next week.

My New Design!

What do you think?  I’m so excited to finally go live.  Wednesday is my one year anniversary for blogging, but I couldn’t wait until then to have my big reveal.  I’ve learned a lot in the last year, and the biggest shocker was that my site, which I paid someone to design, was lacking some key components of a blog.  I can’t totally blame my designer though, as I definitely went into this blindly.

In the past year I’ve become part of a very big, talented and generous community.  Through reading and following several incredible bloggers, I discovered some sites are cool based on their look alone.  Mine was not.  I was also Continue reading My New Design!

Things to be Excited About – January 2014!

1) Twisted Sisters by Jen Lancaster – 9780451239655_p0_v1_s260x420[1]I’m a huge Lancaster fan, she is so funny, both on the page and in person.  This novel, to be published February 4th, is about sibling rivalry, with a Freaky-Friday body-swapping plot.  Sounds like fun, and some much needed levity after all the diet/health books I’ve read this month.  Fort Lauderdale peeps, you’ve made her book tour schedule, and you should go!  It is quite an experience.  I’ve never been to a book signing that had tailgaters!  Audrey was with me and she made quite the impression, let me tell you.  Those two are kindred spirits.  Uh-oh.
