I Can’t Do It All

IMG_20141106_135258 (3)As some of you know, for the last few weeks I’ve been immersed in the Skinny Dip Society, with Katie Den Ouden.  Her passion for helping others achieve health and happiness, so that they can live their best life, is why I “jumped in.”  I promised you reports on my progress and those are coming, eventually, but this is not one.

Those of you who’ve known me for a long time are aware that I’ve been stuck for a while – even more so since my brother’s passing.  As a friend recently put it, I often feel like I’m racing on a hamster wheel.  It seems as though I’m constantly moving, but unfortunately never getting anywhere.  Another loved one described me this way – it’s like I’m a top that’s spinning and spinning, with no destination. Halloween Over the Years

I don’t have ONE particular Halloween that sticks out.  As a kid we had fun trick-or-treating, but I don’t remember it being the “event” that it is today.  And my parents certainly never thought the holiday was a big deal.  I have precious few photographs of me on Halloween from when I was a child.

We Didn’t Have a Clue

This picture was taken in March or April of 1994. I’m leaning towards March, because of the jackets.  I can’t ask the other girls in the picture, Barbara & Kristen, because they both have horrible memories!  We were in Fort Lauderdale, at a waterside restaurant and bar called Bootleggers.  We were young, a little wild, and definitely carefree.  For me, the devil-may care attitude was new.  I had just earned my Master’s Degree the summer before and taken the CPA exam in November.  In February of 1994, I learned that I passed – all four sections, on my first try.  For those of you unfamiliar with the CPA exam, that made me a bad ass!  From the smile on my face (I’m in the middle), you can tell, I knew it.

Late, for a Very Important Date

****Some minor details of this story have been altered, to protect the innocent.

Last weekend I attended my first blogger conference (which I will breakdown for tomorrow’s post). The conference (Type A Parent) was held at the Grand Hyatt hotel, in the heart of Buckhead (a swanky residential/business/high-end retail area of Atlanta).  I carpooled to the conference with a friend, let’s call her Nancy.  Continue reading Late, for a Very Important Date
