The Books of My Life: Jane Porter

072

Jane Porter is one of my favorite authors. Jane has written more than fifty books – women’s fiction and contemporary and historical romances. Two of my favorites are Odd Mom Out and Mrs. Perfect, from her Bellevue Wives series. I enjoyed the books so much that I emailed her a fan letter – and she wrote back! And we started a correspondence. Jane has a blog on her website, which I read religiously. In fact, as I wrote in my first Books of My Life post, she was the person who inspired me to start writing for real. We met in person five years ago, when she hosted my book club at one of her “reader’s dinners.” I was so nervous, I cannot even explain it. Seriously. The woman has had one of her books (Flirty With Forty) turned into a movie – staring Heather Locklear!  Hello!? Writing rock star here. Continue reading The Books of My Life: Jane Porter

Books of My Life : Tamara (Like Camera)

For today’s “Books of My Life,” I’m featuring Tamara of Tamara like Camera. I first discovered Tamara when she was interviewed by my friend Allison for Blogging411. (I urge you to watch that episode, lots of good information about using pictures on your blog!) Tamara was so personable during the interview. She also go a huge endorsement for her blog and pictures by Allison. I checked out her site and her pictures are gorgeous, but so are her words. Although we’ve never met, I feel as though I’ve known her forever. She’s friends with many woman I consider part of my blogging tribe (Janine, Dana, Kristi, Nina) and we have a shared love of San Francisco, Massachusetts, boots, cheesy 80’s music, romance, and of course books! I’m also slightly obsessed with her son – who is so darn cute! I’m certain my adoring comments about him have made her very nervous. But Tamara, don’t worry. If I so much as even hugged your child, my youngest would disown me. He’s very jealous!

Without further ado, here’s Tamara’s interview. Continue reading Books of My Life : Tamara (Like Camera)

The Books of My Life: Dana

TheBooksofMyLife068I was so excited by the enthusiastic response to my post a few weeks ago about The Books of My Life. I had so much fun writing it that I decided to make it a series. I asked my readers to contact me if they were interested in participating. I heard from many of you – thank you! Today, my friend Dana from Kiss My List is my first interviewee. I love Dana and “met” her through the Finish the Sentence Friday link-up. Through posts and email exchanges, I discovered that Dana lives in the town where my husband grew up (her children go to his rival high school). My family lived in the town for a few years, when the twins were babies – and Audrey was born there! What a small world. Dana actually lives less than five miles from where we did. So I predict a real life meeting one day soon!
