Books of My Life: Christine Organ & Julie Jo Severson

hereinthemidI am very excited to be interviewing Julie J Severson and Christine Organ for my first TBOML post of 2017. Christine and Julie Jo are co-editors of the anthology, Here in the Middle. This book is a wonderful collection of essay about those of us, ahem, who are in “the middle.”

The middle years of life are often the years when we are pulled in multiple directions, with the needs of our marriage, children, aging parents, friendships, and career all taking a toll on our time and energy. But it can also be a time filled with deeper connections and settling into our own skin. Continue reading Books of My Life: Christine Organ & Julie Jo Severson

Book Review: So Glad They Told Me

31753224I’ve been on a reading hiatus lately. In the last two years (2015 & 2014), I’ve read or listened to over two hundred books. Reading is my passion. So imagine my surprise when I found myself reading less and less this year. The downward trend began went I started working outside the home, because the job devoured much of my reading time. Also, I think I was book-overload. Having read so many books, I found that I was starting to not appreciate what I was reading. I’d often find myself putting down a book and picking up the remote. I know. Continue reading Book Review: So Glad They Told Me

The Books of My Life: Christine Carter

chriscarterheadshotThis week I’m featuring my friend Christine Carter for The Books of My Life. I met Christine over the ether. I think our first interaction was after I wrote a post for our mutual friend Kristi Campbell’s website, Finding Ninee, which was about my experience with Barrett and the little bus. Christine reached out to me and an internet friendship was made. Christine blogs at The Mom Café, and she recently published her first book, Help and Hope While You’re Healing: A Woman’s Guide Towards Wellness While Recovering From Injury, Surgery, or Illness. You can order the book on Amazon. Last year (or two years ago?), chris-book-coverChristine suffered a terrible injury that led to surgery on her foot. I was reading her blogs during this time and was blown away by her spirit. Christine is a warrior, and she’s unrelentingly positive. I get so excited when she comments on something I write, because I know no matter what, she’s going to make me smile. She’s truly is the best commenter in the blogging world!

Books of My Life: Barbara Claypole White

barbara-claypole-white-credit-2016-km-photographyFor this week’s Books of My Life, I’m featuring author Barbara Claypole White. I confess I wasn’t very familiar with her books, but after doing research for this post, I’m very intrigue – and ordered a copy of her latest novel. Barbara’s personal backstory, about how she became a published author, is very interesting. Aspiring writer’s, you must read it! Also, Barbara has won a number of prestigious awards for her writing. I feel a kinship with this author, because she has a son with special (invisible) needs, who has served as a muse for many of her stories.
