Book Spotlight: You’re the Best

Happy Publication Day to the

Satellite Disasters!

Dolan-sisters-holding-cards[1]

The Satellite Sisters—Julie, Liz, Sheila, Monica, and Lian Dolan—are five real sisters who believe that a sense of connection is what gives meaning to our lives.

The Dolan sisters created the Satellite Sisters first as a radio show and website in 2000 and then became podcast pioneers with a devoted national fan base as well as best-selling authors.  Together they have won 13 Gracie Allen Awards for excellence in women’s media, including Talk Show of the Year and have appeared on CBS Sunday Morning and had a regular column in O Magazine for several years.  You’re the Best is expanded to include The Next Generation of Satellite Sisters – their daughters, daughters-in-laws, and nieces.

Youre-The-Best-Orange[1]

In their new book, You’re The Best, the Satellite Sisters have turned their focus on one of the most important relationships in our lives – our friends, our Satellite Sisters, the women we call when the best thing in your life happens or the worst.   Continue reading Book Spotlight: You’re the Best

The Books of My Life: Dana

TheBooksofMyLife068I was so excited by the enthusiastic response to my post a few weeks ago about The Books of My Life. I had so much fun writing it that I decided to make it a series. I asked my readers to contact me if they were interested in participating. I heard from many of you – thank you! Today, my friend Dana from Kiss My List is my first interviewee. I love Dana and “met” her through the Finish the Sentence Friday link-up. Through posts and email exchanges, I discovered that Dana lives in the town where my husband grew up (her children go to his rival high school). My family lived in the town for a few years, when the twins were babies – and Audrey was born there! What a small world. Dana actually lives less than five miles from where we did. So I predict a real life meeting one day soon!

I hope you enjoy reading about Dana and the books of her life. Continue reading The Books of My Life: Dana

The Books of My Life

TheBooksofMyLife068

I’ve decided to start a new series here, based on a column periodically featured in one of my favorite magazines, Entertainment Weekly. From time to time they quiz celebrities (usually ones who have a book coming out in the near future) about the books they’ve read. As a self-proclaimed book nerd, I love reading these interviews. I thought it would be fun to quiz myself and every few weeks, feature friends and fellow bloggers who also love to dish about books! If you’re interested in participating, please email me (allieATthelatchkeymomDOTcom). I’d love to learn more about what you’re reading.

What was my favorite book as a child?

I don’t remember what books I loved as a young child – but I do have an ancient and battered copy of Cinderella. I must have kept it for some reason. I’ll go with that. As a tween, I was a huge V.C. Andrews fan. I read every book she wrote.  Continue reading The Books of My Life

An Interview with Patti Callahan Henry

Many years ago, I was a member of the Georgia chapter of Romance Writers of America. At the first meeting  I attended, I met Patti Callahan Henry. She was so kind and welcoming to me – she took me under her wing (I was scared to death). We really hit it off and became friends. I remember seeing her the day after we got our autism diagnosis. The only reason I went to the GRW meeting was because I was scheduled to have the first chapter of my manuscript read by a published author. I saw Patti and she just knew something terrible had happened and took me into her arms for a big hug. I will never forget her kindness that day.

Aside from being a wonderful human being, she’s also a fabulous writer, and I’ve enjoyed every one of her novels. When one of her team reached out and asked if I wanted to do an interview and review her book, I jumped at the chance. Her latest novel, The Idea of Love will be launched tomorrow and you can came back here to read my review. But today, I have my interview with Patti. Patti-Web-624x807[1]
