Sounds really positive, doesn’t it? Let me explain. This piece is the result of a writing prompt from “Finish the Sentence Friday.” I debated about it all week – this is my first time linking in with these bloggers and I didn’t want to make a bad first impression by going on about something I’m not interested in or risk offending someone whose interests differ from mine. I bounced a few ideas off of a friend, who quickly batted them down on the basis of potential offense to someone else. I told my husband that I couldn’t think of anything I wasn’t interested in that was blog-worthy and not offensive. He replied, “You have no interest in a lot things!” Oh, really? Well, now I’m not interested in his opinion! Continue reading What I Find Interesting…Not So Much!

11 Alive News, The Huffington Post, The Forsyth Herald & My Forsyth
It’s been a busy week! I’m grateful for all the shout-outs about my interview on 11 Alive, featuring Barrett and the story about the new garden at his middle school. I really appreciate the support (but still cringe whenever I view the clip). The excitement didn’t end there – the Huffington Post Parents posted one of my blogs, with Barrett’s picture front and center on the page. The boy is going to get an attitude! I was overwhelmed by all the positive comments and shares. Thank you, thank you, thank you! If you missed it, you can read the article by clicking here: Huffington Post.

Where I’m From
Hello my Mama Kat friends! I’ve been MIA lately, busy with holiday obligations and haven’t had a lot of time to write. But I lucked out when I saw this week’s prompts, because earlier in the year I wrote a post with the Where I’m From template. So, I’m cheating a little by reposting. I look forward to reconnecting in the new year. Happy Holidays!

This blog is the result of a writing exercise I completed after being inspired by a post I saw on Urban Moo Cow, by Debra Cole. She wrote a beautiful piece called Where I’m From, which was inspire by Galit Breen’s essay at Mamalode. Fortunately, there was a template that helped me get my wheels turning. When I was finished, I shared it with someone I trust, who’s been encouraging me to be more “raw” with my content. She urged me to post it, so I’m taking a chance. I hope you like it! Thank you to Debra and Galit for motivating me to step outside my comfort zone.
World Autism Awareness Day
As I stated in an earlier post, April is Autism Awareness Month, but April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day. To be honest, I don’t know why we have both, but we do. I was contacted by the Huffington Post to answer the questions, “What is autism?” and “What is autism not?” Needless to say, I was very psyched to be selected. Double score, since they also picked Barrett’s picture to be published – because, of course, he’s gorgeous. You can read the article on the Huffington Post Parent’s page. I loved reading the thoughts of other parents. We are not alone!
What do you think autism is? What do you think autism in not?
